Kardamyli

Kardamyli (or Kardamili) is a seaside village located in the Mani, a stunning region in the southern Peloponnese. In the Iliad (Book 9), Homer cites Kardamyli as one of the seven cities offered by Agamemnon to Achilles as a condition to rejoin the fight during the Trojan War. The village preserves its ancient name. The older town includes a medieval castle and the imposing church of Saint Spyridon.




The skyline of Kardamyli, like many other Maniot towns and villages, is dominated by the distinctive regional architectural of the various towers built by scions of the Nikliani clans, the medieval aristocracy of the Mani. Kardamyli is the departure point of many mountain trails, some of which lead to the peak of Mount Taygetus. Nearby is the Viros Gorge, with a total length of 20 km.

Segovia Aqueduct

The Aqueduct of Segovia is located in the emblematic Plaza del Azoguejo. It is a Roman construction and one of the most significant and best-preserved ancient monuments left on the Iberian Peninsula. The Aqueduct is the foremost symbol of Segovia, as evidenced by its presence on the city's coat of arms. It was build between the second half of the 1st Century AD and the early years of the 2nd Century, during the reign of either Emperor Vespasian or Nerva.
The aqueduct transports waters from Fuente Fría river, situated in the nearby mountains. From the point the aqueduct enters the city until it reaches Plaza de Díaz Sanz, it boasts 167 arches.

Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 3.1 million athletes in 175 countries. This year, 7,500 Special Olympics Athletes from 185 nations competed in 22 Olympic-type sports in Athens, Greece.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), is run by Police Officers and other law enforcement professionals from around the world. Currently, close to 90,000 police professionals in over 35 countries participate in this worldwide effort to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.

The Indignant Movement

Syntagma square, Athens – Greece.

Tens of thousands of Greeks have gathered peacefully for 2 weeks in central Athens and other cities to demand change, after a year of painful austerity measures। Organized through social-networking sites (Facebook & Twitter) and copying similar mass protests in Spain, the evening rallies have attracted mostly young people, including many who are jobless in a country where the unemployment rate is nearly 16 %. Many also point to the decades of corruption and misrule that brought the country to its knees, and are calling for a radical change. In a proclamation uploaded onto the Internet, the “Indignant” movement - which takes its name from the original Spanish campaign “Los Indignados” - said that it would keep going until the politicians and technocrats it blames for the current situation “go away.”




The protests come as the Greek government is planning to impose a new austerity package in efforts to secure the new International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout installment। Greece received a 110 billion Euro EU - IMF bailout loan last year, as it faced a massive debt crisis. Greece was obliged to implement a strict austerity package, including the cutting of public sector salary and pensions, increasing taxes and overhauling the pension system, to survive.
